Zaffs Matrix Research : Werewolves? Shape shifters and Lycanthrope
For over a century now certain creatures have set the "Gold Standard" of things that go bump in the night. Vampires, Zombies, The Boogeyman... all of these are examples of scary things we all thought were just stories or legends. Parents have always told their children not to be affraid because " We dont live in a fantasy world". Isn't it funny chummed that we all WISH we lived in a world of fantasy? Well we don't, we live in the Sixth World bud... and in more than one way, it's alot worse for us.
With the Awakening that brought magic steam rolling into reality, so to came horror and change.
All this things we used to think were just stories or tall tales just to make us jump or give kids nightmares have all come to life in ways we never really expected. Among those Nightmares? Werewolves of course!
Most of Meta Humanity still views creatures like these as they have always appeared in the stories. People seeing the full moon and transforming involuntarily from happy, everyday fun loving Drek's into monstrous, murdering, death machines... while some would argue that is the case, I'm here to tell you how wrong they are.
Like Vampirism, Lycanthrope is a disease that plagues the body and alters the mind in serious ways. Unlike Vampirism though, Lycanthrope is not a PHYSICAL disease (as one might expect) but rather a spiritual one. To date researchers have found that TRUE Lycanthrope is restricted to a certain class of Meta Humanity. You guessed it chummed, Shape Shifters.
Alittle biology lesson for those of you who may live under a rock. Shape Shifters are those Meta Humans that for whatever reason have been merged with an animal spirit and can take the form of specific types of animals or vice versa. They themselves are not inherently dangerous. One such class of Shape Shifter are referred to as " Lupines", or "Wolf Shifters".
When inflicted with Lycanthrope , Lupine Shape Shifters become what is commonly known as a Werewolf. Now that we are all on the same page, it's time to explain how the disease actually works in our world.
Like I said before, Lycanthrope is not a physical disease. It is fact a spiritual one. The disease itself affects the spirits Merged into a Shape Shifter on a radical level. The effects of the disease vary wildly based on the Shape Shifters type. We will speak about werewolves specifically.
There are two types of werewolves known to us thus far, True Werewolves and Thralls (Commonly Refereed to as Kin). Of the two, True Werewolves are unfathomably more dangerous then their Thralls... don't get confused though, Thralls are scary fuckers aswell.
These creatures are Intelligent, Pack Oriented and Savage Combatants. They are extremely hard to kill outright and love to hunt... it's best to just never cross paths with these things if you can avoid it...BUT if you can't for whatever reason then the following is a Compilation of everything we know about these creatures so far.
Werewolf Thralls are much less dangerous than their True Werewolf masters. That is to say, they arnt UNSTOPPABLE... put enough hurt on one from any source and these monsters go down! That being said, it's KEEPING them down that's the hard part...
Here's how you do it:
-Thralls arnt full fledged Werewolves so for the unlucky soul that becomes a Thrall there is atleast some hope of a cure. In Astral space a Thrall has two auras... it's true aura and that of the wolf spirit leeching off of it... if one can enter Astral space and combat the Wolf aura then it will flee, freeing the victim from the curse.
-If Astral combat isn't an option you still have some doors you can open. Werewolf Thralls are allergic to silver... put silver bullets in them and they wont be getting back up...
- Nothing in the Sixth World that we know of, not even dragons, can survive if you take off its head... Thralls are tough but if you can get them off guard and take the head... or put enough bullets in them to stagger them for a moment and take the head.. they obviously won't be getting back up...
- Thralls are also vulnerable to Mana type Combat spells, as these spells are channeled through the Astral plane and effect the Thralls wolf spirit directly.
True Werewolves are nearly impossible to bring down in a straight fight... They are faster, stronger, more durable, and much smarter than the Thralls they rule over. If you ever have the displeasure of encountering one do yourself a favor and make it your friend... and if you can't make sure to have an escape route planned!
-True Wolves are not allergic to silver as their Thralls are, so using silver bullets does nothing to help you.
- A True Wolf's Spirit is completely merged with its own making the Astral vulnerability Nulinvoid. There is no cure for True Lycanthrope.
- Removing he creatures head obviously still works IF you can manage it... though a true Wolf's hide is so durable most bladed weapons today won't cut through faster than the True Wolf's natural healing ability can heal it.
- The only real " Weakness" a True Werewolf has is that it is still extremely vulnerable to Mana based spells. Research shows that Mana Spells seem to bypass much of the True Wolf's natural bodily defenses...
