Zaffs Matrix Research : Werewolves? Shape shifters and Lycanthrope
For over a century now certain creatures have set the "Gold Standard" of things that go bump in the night. Vampires, Zombies, The Boogeyman... all of these are examples of scary things we all thought were just stories or legends. Parents have always told their children not to be affraid because " We dont live in a fantasy world". Isn't it funny chummed that we all WISH we lived in a world of fantasy? Well we don't, we live in the Sixth World bud... and in more than one way, it's alot worse for us.
With the Awakening that brought magic steam rolling into reality, so to came horror and change.
All this things we used to think were just stories or tall tales just to make us jump or give kids nightmares have all come to life in ways we never really expected. Among those Nightmares? Werewolves of course!
Most of Meta Humanity still views creatures like these as they have always appeared in the stories. People seeing the full moon and transforming involuntarily from happy, everyday fun loving Drek's into monstrous, murdering, death machines... while some would argue that is the case, I'm here to tell you how wrong they are.
Like Vampirism, Lycanthrope is a disease that plagues the body and alters the mind in serious ways. Unlike Vampirism though, Lycanthrope is not a PHYSICAL disease (as one might expect) but rather a spiritual one. To date researchers have found that TRUE Lycanthrope is restricted to a certain class of Meta Humanity. You guessed it chummed, Shape Shifters.
Alittle biology lesson for those of you who may live under a rock. Shape Shifters are those Meta Humans that for whatever reason have been merged with an animal spirit and can take the form of specific types of animals or vice versa. They themselves are not inherently dangerous. One such class of Shape Shifter are referred to as " Lupines", or "Wolf Shifters".

There are two types of werewolves known to us thus far, True Werewolves and Thralls (Commonly Refereed to as Kin). Of the two, True Werewolves are unfathomably more dangerous then their Thralls... don't get confused though, Thralls are scary fuckers aswell.
These creatures are Intelligent, Pack Oriented and Savage Combatants. They are extremely hard to kill outright and love to hunt... it's best to just never cross paths with these things if you can avoid it...BUT if you can't for whatever reason then the following is a Compilation of everything we know about these creatures so far.
Werewolf Thralls are much less dangerous than their True Werewolf masters. That is to say, they arnt UNSTOPPABLE... put enough hurt on one from any source and these monsters go down! That being said, it's KEEPING them down that's the hard part...
Here's how you do it:
-Thralls arnt full fledged Werewolves so for the unlucky soul that becomes a Thrall there is atleast some hope of a cure. In Astral space a Thrall has two auras... it's true aura and that of the wolf spirit leeching off of it... if one can enter Astral space and combat the Wolf aura then it will flee, freeing the victim from the curse.
-If Astral combat isn't an option you still have some doors you can open. Werewolf Thralls are allergic to silver... put silver bullets in them and they wont be getting back up...
- Nothing in the Sixth World that we know of, not even dragons, can survive if you take off its head... Thralls are tough but if you can get them off guard and take the head... or put enough bullets in them to stagger them for a moment and take the head.. they obviously won't be getting back up...
- Thralls are also vulnerable to Mana type Combat spells, as these spells are channeled through the Astral plane and effect the Thralls wolf spirit directly.
True Werewolves are nearly impossible to bring down in a straight fight... They are faster, stronger, more durable, and much smarter than the Thralls they rule over. If you ever have the displeasure of encountering one do yourself a favor and make it your friend... and if you can't make sure to have an escape route planned!
-True Wolves are not allergic to silver as their Thralls are, so using silver bullets does nothing to help you.
- A True Wolf's Spirit is completely merged with its own making the Astral vulnerability Nulinvoid. There is no cure for True Lycanthrope.

Contacts and Some Homework
Hey gang, this post will be to educate players on proper contact designs and backgrounds.
I highly recommend that you all read the " Who You Know" Chapter of the Run Faster source book. It has advanced contacts rules that will help us have more fun with one of THE MOST IMPORTANT aspects of the game!!!
Included in this post is a sample contacts list. This is what all of your contacts should look like ( if you have the time!). You will need to read the above mentioned chapter to accurately understand all the information !

Because of this, he is one of the few Corporate Execs willing to take a more integral role within the Shadowrunning community, using an agent placed there ( Mr.Nice) as a tool to use to garner more power for himself and advance his position within the Company.
Sano is Severely Loyal to his corp. and as such will never take any action that may result in harming Wuxing. He expects the same loyalty from all of his subordinates, and is unforgiving to disloyalty.
Uses: Mr.Sano is not a man to be "used", though he is extremely intelligent and knows when a particular action or task could be molded to his benefit. As such, he is open to aiding Mr.Nice in anyway possible if he is able. However, he fully expects Mr.Nice to repay him ten fold with undying loyalty to him. His Primary function as a contact to Mr.Nice is in LEGWORK, using his corporate influence and knowledge stores to provide information to Mr.Nice when needed and appropriate.

Details: Marconne Has earned the title by which he is called "Gentleman". He is very polite and straight forward in his dealings with people. He respects boundaries and shows respect to those that have earned i, no matter their affiliations. However, Marconne did not reach his position with the Verontessi Crime family because of his good manners.
He is cunning, ruthless and precise in his actions. Highly intelligent and no push over, Gentleman Johnnie Marconne is name that Garner's both respect and fear within the criminal underworld.
His actions, decisions and personality match this of the character from Dresden Files.

Instead Nice risked his life to get Marconne out, provided him medical care, and later aided Marconne in tracking the Runners and retrieving hia money.
Since then Marconne has considered Mr.Nice a friend for life.

Details: Hurricane (Real name Unknown) grew up and spent the majority of his adult life on a Pueblo Tribal Reserve. Both his father and Grandfather served as the tribes Unituruk (Medicine Man) so it was only natural when the passed from the world that HURRICANE would assume those duties. As he grew older, and witnessed the corruption of his tribesman by the megacorps he decided against spending his last few decades on the reserve and opted instead to take his vast array of herbal and magical knowledge into the real world.
In all aspects Hurricane hopes that his knowledge and power can do some good for the people of the world. His focus is on the healing arts, and he uses his home as a Medicine Lodge for the people that need his help. Of course... nothing is free, but Hurricane tries hard to make sure that those people down on their luck can pay him in ways that they can actually afford.
Other than his healing arts, Hurricane has built up a good sized network for collecting magical trinkets and reagents aswell as a good reputation within the spirit realm. He can also craft a good number of magical goods on his own and is well versed in tribal trinkets.
Hurricane will never take an action that he believes will harm innocent people or spirits...with the exception being Corporate slaves.

Lt.Murphy is fierc, stubborn and dedicated to ridding the world of Criminal Scum. Unlike most dedicated officers Murphy understands that sometimes the law isn't enough and that more drastic measures need to be taken. As such, she has developed a sort of second life as a vigilante. She uses her Clout within Knight Errant and her specific skill set to do things the Law normally couldn't do.
She only tolerates certain criminals like Mr.Nice because of their usefulness when it comes to getting around the Law to get Real criminals off the streets.
She is very Specific about what she wants from an associate (Like Mr.Nice), and uses their skills and shadow knowledge to her advantage to take down criminals that are normally hard to get to.
Mr.Nice happens to be one of the few Men she trusts to help her on an official leve, and calls him in for favors as an Investigator in Specific Knight Errant cases that the department needs an Awakened mages help on.
She will never tolerate blatant disregard for public safety, nor will she tolerate a criminal avoiding justice because of the Red Tape of The Law.

She only tolerates certain criminals like Mr.Nice because of their usefulness when it comes to getting around the Law to get Real criminals off the streets.
She is very Specific about what she wants from an associate (Like Mr.Nice), and uses their skills and shadow knowledge to her advantage to take down criminals that are normally hard to get to.
Mr.Nice happens to be one of the few Men she trusts to help her on an official leve, and calls him in for favors as an Investigator in Specific Knight Errant cases that the department needs an Awakened mages help on.
She will never tolerate blatant disregard for public safety, nor will she tolerate a criminal avoiding justice because of the Red Tape of The Law.

Good news team, due to the efforts LIKWID and I have put into finding Graves we finally have some solid leads. I wish I could help more but I'll be indisposed for a good while with important business.
The Johnson that originally hired us to Extract Graves from Neo-Net has informed me that the offer still stands if we can somehow find and recover him. If you are interested, the job pays 25k each.
The following is a list of the information we currently have on Graves and his current location for you to use if you decide to take the job.
We've tracked the group that managed to Kidnap Graves from me during the drop off to a location in the Brakken Media District of Las Vegas. Their last know location was a secure compound in Brakken Media Territory.
Its now evident that Brakken Media was behind the high jacking of our contract on Graves.
What we know about Brakken Media : Brakken Media is classified as a AA Corp and is a direct subsidiary of Horizon Group (a Top Ten Megacorp). Brakken handles media coverage of all kinds for Horizon in the Vegas area. As such Brakkens compound is highly secure because of the sensitive nature of the information contained within its walls.
The Job: Infiltrate Brakken Medias Employee Housing Building, locate and extract Titus Graves.
(I am unsure wether or not Graves can be classified as a Voluntary extraction this time, so you may need to extract him by force). Once you have Graves you will rendezvous with the Johnsons men at a designated location to receive payment.

VNN Reports: Local College Science Department Faces Bankruptcie after Daring Night Time Robbery.

Professor Willard Malchovich of The College of South Nevadas Science Department speaks to VNN Reporter Daniel Lyin with a heavy heart and visible tears in his eyes today. According to the Professor his lab was broken into last night and robbed.
" The loss of learning materials for the students alone brings tears to my eyes, but that doesn't begin to compared to the loss of the Disytopium projects...
That loss cripples us as a department... and all of our funds were tied into that research." The Professor reveals to VNN.
Apparently the College has been in a long lasting legal battle with its competitor South Nevada Technical College because of overlapping school zones. SNTC CEO Seymour Hammond has been attempting to absorb CSN into his own college for some time now. Using his rivals lack of funding as a legal stranglehold to force them to close their doors for good.
CSN had one hope in the research being done by Professor Malchovich in the field of Applied Mineral Energies. The College spent the last of its resources on an Extremely rare mineral known as Dysitopium , which the Professor planned to use as a conduit for new age energy tech.
With the robbery, both CSN and the Professor's hopes have been dashed and it know seems the the College will have no hope but to close its doors for good.
Malchovich was quoted as saying " Unless we get the research back, or find some powerhouse investors, then there is nothing we can do. I just never thought Hammond would resort to such underhanded tactics to get his way... the worst part is we have no proof... but we just know."

VNN(Vegas News Network): Killer Kitty? Violence Erupts at Popular Vegas Night Club!

A night out on the town turned deadly for the patrons of a popular Vegas night spot last night as Anti-Corp protesters crashed the scene! Owned exclusively by Big Ten Megacorp, NEO-NET, The Liquid Kitty was reportedly playing host to a special event celebrating the recent successes of renowned Neo-Net programmer Titus Graves.
Despite EXTREMELY heightened security due to the Corps. VIP quests eyewitnesses report that the club was invaded by several well armed gunman, who violently assaulted Neo-Nets special security forces.
During the firefight several members of the clubs security force were killed or critically injured and initial reports from witnesses say that the gunman managed to escape the the scene with a kidnapped Titus Graves in tow! DIRE news for any Megacorp indeed!
However, after a press release by Neo-Nets Vegas Front Man (Regional Director Philip Knowles) we have learned that despite the surprisingly violent and seemingly unprovoked attack Neo-Net special forces have recovered Graves and apprehended the gunman responsible. We can expect nothing less from one of the Big Ten Corps!!
Though no Anti-Corp terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack Director Knowles has assured the public that they will have answers once they complete questioning of the criminals responsible.
The good news in all of this is that despite the abhorrent violence used by these gunman, Neo-Net reports no civilian casualties, and many patrons caught in the fire escaped with only minor injuries!
I think I speak for everyone when I say that we hope these criminals are all brought to justice!!
